Schipper Paint by Numbers Kits Stopped Shipping to the US and I'm Sad About It

Schipper No Longer Ships Directly to US Consumers

If you do a lot of paint by number projects, you’ll know the German brand Schipper is known to be one of the best companies that make high quality paint by number kits. They are also one of the few brands that have their paint by number kits on canvas board instead of just the canvas cloth, or the canvas framed on wood. For me, this makes it easier to work with the acrylic paint, rather than having to gesso the canvas before painting.

Unfortunately, I have come to discover that Schipper no longer ships directly to the US. Back in 2022 I was able to make a purchase from their website and ship 6 paint by number kits. The pricing was technically cheaper, I just had to pay for shipping. But I was capable of purchasing new releases from the brand right away. Now, I’m assuming with the current tariffs regarding shipping to the US, Schipper no longer lists the option for US shipping on their website. Most likely DHL, the shipping company Schipper uses, costs too much to ship, and Schipper can’t afford it.

This means for US customers, we will need to go with third party sellers. Places like Amazon and Herrschners have some older kits available, but who knows when the newest releases will be available to purchase. I was ready to buy another 6 paint by numbers kits, a mix of newly released ones and some older ones. Now I will need to see when or if Herschners will even have them to buy.

This isn’t Schipper’s fault either. The current tariffs to the US are making US consumers unable to buy their favorite brands and products that are made in other countries. Currently that means either paying more money for products that used to be cheaper, or trying to find third party sellers from Amazon or Ebay. I’m hoping these tariffs won’t last forever. In the meantime, I might need to make an order and ship it to Taiwan, where I make an annual visit.
